As the lead vocalist of DIVA, Ernestine has blessed countless newlyweds. Ernestine has always been very talented in performing arts, thus unleashing her desire to perform since childhood. She graduated from Harrow International School (Bangkok) and later obtained a Bachelor Degree in Drama from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, major in Acting. During her studies at HKAPA, she was awarded scholarships to exchange with drama schools in Beijing and the U.K. She was also offered a  scholarship by the EF International Language School to study in New York when she came first in a singing competition.

 

Apart from acting, Ernestine has always had a passion for singing too. At a young age, she already passed Grade 8 ABRSM Vocal Examination with distinction. She went on to participate in numerous public singing competitions where she always came first. Ernestine’s singing voice can also be found in a number of films, including "L for Love, L for Lies Too", in which she performed the song “友達以上”, "My Little Pony" as Rainbow Dash, and so on.

 

Ernestine has starred in a myriad of large-scale Hong Kong musical productions, including Intercultural Dialogue "Matteo Ricci the Musical"; Hong Kong Repertory Theatre "Ladies, Bon Voyage! A cabaret", "Field of Dreams 2017 Live+" (Hong Kong and Beijing performances), "Hong Kong Plague 1894", “The Imaginary Invalid” and “Hello, Dolly!”; Hong Kong Chorus Society “The Sound of Music” (1st and 2nd Run), “Annie” (English performance); Actor’s Family “The Lily of the Valley” ( China tour), "A Midsummer Night's Dream" (first performance and re-run) and so on.

 

Ernestine is keen to pass on her performance knowledge to young artists. She was the Singing Director of Nancy Sit’s concert "The Sound of Nancy Infinity Love Concert" in the Hong Kong Coliseum. She also teaches singing and drama in primary schools, secondary schools, and art centers. From time to time, she also writes scripts and conduct rehearsals for students. As a trilingual speaker, she has taught numerous English musicals with English and Mandarin as the medium of instruction in Guangzhou and Beijing IDEAS Education Camps.

 

As a dedicated performer, Ernestine has always strived to bring the best performance to her audiences regardless of size or formality. Since 2013, Ernestine has taken up the position as Lead Vocalist in banquet bands of different sizes. The guests were all astonished by her magnificent performances, commenting on how she manages to produce such strong and energetic voice with such a petite physique. As a freelance singer, she worked with different band companies here and there. She gradually realized that these so-called professional production companies were producing performances with the quality so terrible that not only bothered the audiences, but also the musicians that worked for them.

 

Seeing the lack of quality banquet bands in the market, Ernestine founded DIVA Music Production in 2018, with the hope to extend the spirit of performance to banquets. Collaborating with a sound designer who graduated from the School of Production Art of APA, major in Sound design, Ernestine wants to not only deliver the perfect vocal performance of the song, but also the perfect sound quality to her audience. 

 

Ernestine later added unique artistic elements to their banquet performances to create lasting memories for guests. “Memories beyond imagination” is the founding philosophy of DIVA. The DIVA team is filled with creativity and vitality. In recent years, Ernestine has injected new blood into the team and has been actively cultivating musicians with talent and potential. 2019, DIVA introduced “Clef by DIVA”, which on one hand, allows young musicians to gain more practical experiences, and on the other hand, is presented as a more economical option for clients on a limited budget. DIVA learns from experiences; we play our music with regard to different factors, such as the nature of the banquet and the background of the guests. DIVA is flexible; instead of strictly following the song list, the band flows with the atmosphere and the reactions of guests. We want to let our guests fully indulge in our music, and leave them with unforgettable memories.
